For 20 years — 15 without diagnosis — I lived with three autoimmune diseases, including the rare and physically devastating Pyoderma Gangrenosum. My photos are more testament to the devastation than any words ever could be.

I was hospitalised for 13 months. I spent 16 days on life support, 12 in a coma. I made peace with not leaving the hospital alive. I honour modern medicine — it saves countless lives every day. But in my case, every treatment pushed my body further into distress, closer to death.
 

In December 2023, after being referred by a friend, Craig and Venessa came to my hospital room in Pretoria. I was exhausted. I was physically and mentally broken. My body was screaming to give up. I was soul deep tired.
